Unpacking Diversity: Professional Learning Community
Founded in October 2017 by three graduate students (Alejandra Sanchez-Rio, Melva Treviño Peña, Melissa McCracken) in CEOAS, the CEOAS PLC aims to explore topics of diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education. Our organization is entirely graduate student led (pictured left, some organizers missing) and we organize a seminar series based around a centralized topic such as "Is higher education equitable?" or "CEOAS: Our college climate". Each year we invite professors from other colleges to discuss topics such as intersectionality, microaggressions, identity, and much more.

SOEST Maile Mentoring Program
The SOEST Maile Mentoring Program pairs under represented community college students with a graduate student or post doc mentor who helps to guide them through their transition from a community college to four year university. I was paired with Dr. Anela Choy (pictured right), Chantel Chang, and Dr. Tiffany Anderson. Working with all three of these women provided me with the support, advice, and extra encouragement that I needed during this transition.
