CEOAS Academic Mentoring Program
This CEOAS AMP pairs undergraduates in CEOAS with graduate students who have similar research interests to help the mentee develop professional development skills, apply to internships and graduate school, and set attainable academic goals. I have mentored three undergraduates in the Earth Science program so far and thoroughly enjoy mentoring and learning from these future leaders.
Graduate Teaching Assistant
In Fall 2017 to Winter 2018 I taught four sections of 35 students once a week for the Geography 106: Geography of the Western World course under Dr. Demian Hommel. I taught the students how to use the ESRI online platform called Story Maps which are great tools that allow creators to include features ESRI features such as interactive arcGIS maps in the presentation. The Final Story Map Project was worth 30% of their overall grade and the recitation I taught was also ~25% of their total grade.
Lunalilo Scholars Peer Mentor
After being a recipient of the Lunalilo Scholars Program in 2012 - 2013, I came back to work for the project as a mentor and worked with non-traditional students as they transitioned to college life. I also created and manage the programs Facebook page.
